YOT Day 48 - Puddly forecast

Rain has been falling for two days here in Texas.  It has been chilly and wet for TWO DAYS!  It makes me think of the Ray Bradbury short story, "All Summer in a Day".   I don't like that story, it is quite sad to me.

There are great things about the rain though...puddles.  Puddles are awesome!

This YOT day 48, I am thankful for puddles.

When picking up Larzipan from school, he was sitting by himself at a table eating his ginger snaps very slowly, taking each bite quite deliberately and enjoying them.  I sat next to him and told him as soon as we left school, we were going to go jump in some puddles.  Yeah, that hurried him up.

Outside, the rain is coming down but not too hard.  Parents are running by us, carrying their kids, trying to get to the car before they are soaked through.  Not us.  Larzipan and I ran up to the first puddle we saw and jumped into it together.  We splashed all over the place.  He looked down at his pants and then looked up at me, with a slight worried look, threw his arms up and said, "oh no! My pants are wet!"  I told him not to worry, that we were going to splash, jump, and get wet then go home, put on pajamas, and have a pajama party.  He got an adorable mischievous grin, giggled, and hopped into the next puddle while yelling, "Ooookayyyy, Mommmmmmy!".  Once we go tin the car he could not wait to go home and tell Daddy why his pants were wet.  He practiced his answer, "my pants are wet and mommy's pants are wet because we jumped in the puddles!"

As we were talking together in our wind down before bed time, I asked him what the weather was and we talked about it.  We decided it was rainy and puddly weather.  I love puddly weather.

  1. Great story. It is wonderful that you are taking the time to puddle splash aka stopping to smell the roses.
